The Drive Home

Well, I remember picking up the 68 Mustang at the exhaust shop, with Gary. We had some issues with the Battery he had bought for it, we were right by the Auto Zone where he had bought the battery so we went in an exchanged for a new one..
We stopped to get some gas at the Chevron, we was not sure how much was in the tank.
Man, I remember that drive home it felt really good, it was a pretty day for sure. I could not believe I had bought a classic Mustang and was driving it home.
Well I was having a some issues as I was driving, the engine was back firing or trying to vapor lock, the gas line was a copper line that had been ran just to be able to move the car around not really to drive it.
I got the car home in the drive way, and I could not believe I had it home, went in the house was so proud of my purchase I had made, then it happened.  What you ask it was on fire in the drive what on fire yes on fire. I ran out with the fire extinguisher, popped the hood and put out the fire. What happened well remember the engine was back firing on me as I was driving home. Well I did not have a breather on the carburetor pretty stupid right yes it was.. So gas had gather around the intake and carb, and when the engine was cut off the heat from he motor set the fire... So I went from floating on the clouds and being proud of the purchase I made to feeling I was cursed by God for buying the car.
The Mustang would still start but when you tried to engage the clutch it did not want to staying running, this was a problem because my driveway is gravel and an incline. So it took a while to get it in the garage. Never knew it would set in the garage for as long as it did before I started working on it.
