The 68 Mustang Convertible Top

The 68 Mustang Convertible Top, what top? This Convertible has a built sun roof.

The Trunk condition

The trunk area of the the 68 Mustang, here we get hints of the original paint color, and more of the orange paint.

Closer look at the Interior and floor pan

Closer look at the Interior what Interior? and better look at the floor pans.

Closer look at the engine bay!

Here's some better views of the engine bay and the 302 motor of my newly purchased 1968 Mustang Convertible. The brown stuff on the carburetor is where is was on FIRE!! and you can see the white residue is from the firs extinguisher.  I had another issue on the drive home, the power steering line was up against the exhaust manifold, and it melted a hole in it.

The Pony has seen better days for sure.

Waiting period

Why the waiting period?
Well it was life, I was building my career putting a lot of overtime, and never seems to be able to find the time to work on the car, even though I thought about all the time. What color was I  going to paint her, what about the interior what time wheels.
I also started having neck and back problems and that started slowed me down on a lot of activities in general..

The Drive Home

Well, I remember picking up the 68 Mustang at the exhaust shop, with Gary. We had some issues with the Battery he had bought for it, we were right by the Auto Zone where he had bought the battery so we went in an exchanged for a new one..
We stopped to get some gas at the Chevron, we was not sure how much was in the tank.
Man, I remember that drive home it felt really good, it was a pretty day for sure. I could not believe I had bought a classic Mustang and was driving it home.
Well I was having a some issues as I was driving, the engine was back firing or trying to vapor lock, the gas line was a copper line that had been ran just to be able to move the car around not really to drive it.
I got the car home in the drive way, and I could not believe I had it home, went in the house was so proud of my purchase I had made, then it happened.  What you ask it was on fire in the drive what on fire yes on fire. I ran out with the fire extinguisher, popped the hood and put out the fire. What happened well remember the engine was back firing on me as I was driving home. Well I did not have a breather on the carburetor pretty stupid right yes it was.. So gas had gather around the intake and carb, and when the engine was cut off the heat from he motor set the fire... So I went from floating on the clouds and being proud of the purchase I made to feeling I was cursed by God for buying the car.
The Mustang would still start but when you tried to engage the clutch it did not want to staying running, this was a problem because my driveway is gravel and an incline. So it took a while to get it in the garage. Never knew it would set in the garage for as long as it did before I started working on it.

Getting Dual Exhaust

I had Gary take the Mustang to the exhaust shop which was a short distance from where he lived. Was have dual exhaust put on the mustang before bring it home.
The exhaust shop called me and was having a problem with the driver side manifold, and they could finish the exhaust. I needed another manifold well no problem I still had some 289 and 302 manifolds somewhere at my dads in the field of doom..

I took the exhaust manifold to them but they did not want to take the old manifold off motor, afraid they my break a bolt and cost them money.. So I took the responsibility and remove the manifold and put the better fitting one on the engine. I has no problems with remove the bolts or putting the other manifold on the engine.
